LATISSE

Here at Community Eye Care Specialists, we are proud to offer Latisse®.

Latisse®, which was originally used as a medication for glaucoma, is now used to help patients have fuller and thicker eyelashes. It is FDA approved for this purpose and many celebrities have been using it with great success.

The way that Latisse® works is not completely understood. However, we do know that it lengthens, thickens, and darkens your natural eyelashes. It also helps with the growth phase, increasing the amount of lashes that you have.

However, this is not an instant fix. It can take up to sixteen weeks of using the product daily to see the full results.

Latisse® is applied on the upper lash line using a sterile applicator. This should be done every night. As you blink, the drug spreads to your lower lash line. You should always clean your face and remove all of your makeup (and your contacts) prior to applying Latisse®. Latisse® comes with disposable applicators. If used more than once, you may develop problems such as an infection or allergic reaction.

It may take up to two months to see results. After three or four months, you may be able to decrease the treatment to every few days. However, if you stop, your eyelashes will return to normal.

Though it is a wonderful drug used to give people confidence in their looks, it is not safe for everyone. Certain eye problems can become worse when using Latisse®. It is also advised that pregnant and nursing women shouldn’t use it. If you have problems with your intraocular pressure (like glaucoma), you should exercise caution if using Latisse®. We will have to work with you and monitor your pressure closely while on the mediation.

If you have any questions about Latisse®, don’t hesitate to contact us today at (814) 726-2303. We would be happy to help you get the eyelashes you’ve always wanted.
